The Freedom Bank Foundation is the charitable arm of The Freedom Bank of Virginia. In January 2022, The Freedom Bank Board of Directors announced the approval of a new mission and strategy for the Freedom Foundation focused on economic inclusion. As a result, the Freedom Bank Foundation’s mission is to support and foster relationships with non-profit organizations that promote financial inclusion and make the communities Freedom Bank serves, more vibrant, and more equitable.
The Foundation supports philanthropies that foster financial inclusion and align with Freedom Bank’s values and strategies. Additionally, the Foundation amplifies the energy and engagement of Freedom Bank’s employees by supporting financial inclusion organizations that Freedom Bank colleagues are committed to, either as a Board Member or individual donor, through a charitable employee match program.
The Freedom Bank Foundation receives donations from the Bank and its employees, as well as coordinates an annual event to leverage the platform to promote economic inclusion in the local community. The Foundation’s focus builds on the exciting work the Bank has engaged in with the Community Business Partnership (CBP) in launching the NOVA Freedom Loan Fund which provides financing and technical assistance for minorities and entrepreneurs of color.
The pressing need for greater economic inclusion has been further magnified by the continuing racial discrimination and tension and exacerbated by the economic challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Freedom Bank through the Foundation and in line with the Bank’s commitment to diversity and inclusion initiatives is making an effort to level the playing field to achieve greater equality.
The Freedom Bank Foundation is a nonprofit, tax exempt charitable organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and is a registered Non-Profit Organization in Virginia. Donations are tax deductible as allowed by law.
